What was that one little thing that tipped the scale for you and made you decide to invest in DAMAC Lagoons?
It was purely from an investment perspective. The price point, what you pay for and what you get, is one of the best in Dubai. When you compare it to other developers, the difference is significant. In fact, I believe the quality here is even better.
I studied the master plan, the entrances, the built-up area of the units; everything was thoughtfully designed. That gave me confidence. So whenever I had some extra funds, I kept investing in DAMAC Lagoons.
It was the price tag, which was very good. I own seven units in this project, and if I had the money, I would have bought more. Honestly.
DAMAC Lagoons is a lovely community. At first, I had my doubts. I thought, how will they deliver such a massive project? But once I saw the progress on-site, I realized this is it. So I started buying. All my units were secondary purchases, and I don’t regret a single one.
When I first visited Santorini and stepped into one of the units, I was genuinely surprised by the quality: the finishing, the attention to detail, even the grouting and paintwork. Everything was done perfectly. You can tell a lot of care went into the construction. The greenery, the layout, and the overall vibe is amazing. For a project of this scale, DAMAC has done an exceptional job.
And you see this as a wise investment and you feel property values or your ROI has met your expectations?
It has performed beyond my expectations. Even the units I bought on the secondary market have appreciated significantly. I’d say nearly double in about two years. And I still believe the value will continue to rise as the community matures and more people experience it in person. Once you see the villas facing the lagoon, you understand the potential. The build quality and finishing are remarkable. I always tell my friends: you have to see it to believe it.
We get a lot of very, very strong positive comments on our quality for DAMAC Lagoons?
I recently did a snagging inspection for a unit from another developer that cost nearly double what I paid here, and I was disappointed. The difference is night and day. DAMAC’s finishing, the corners, the paint, the details: everything is neat and well-executed.
Even my wife, who’s very particular about the smallest details, was impressed when she saw one of the units. She said, “Everything’s done perfectly.” The greenery too — it came up so fast. Honestly, I’d rate it 10 out of 10.
Do you think DAMAC Lagoons offers good long-term potential? Absolutely. DAMAC has improved tremendously over the years. They’ve learned from the past, refined their processes, and now they’re delivering communities that truly stand out. Whether you’re an investor or an end user, it’s one of the best decisions you can make.
And the way they’re managing releases by not flooding the market with too many units, is smart. It protects value for buyers. Even the slight delays are understandable given the project’s scale.
So since you bought it, even though you bought it on the second market, about how much percentage did it appreciate?
Almost double over two years. I even pushed lots of my friends to buy. All of them are grateful to me.
How do you rate the location?
It’s amazing — near Sports City, close to DAMAC Hills Mall, with a wide, easy entrance and good connectivity. I don’t think traffic will ever be a major issue.
And what’s your experience with community management so far?
I’ve had a very positive experience. I sent an email once and was personally invited for a meeting to discuss my concern. That level of attentiveness is rare. It makes me feel my property is in safe hands. The team really listens, and that gives me confidence the community will remain well-maintained even 10 years from now.
How would you complete this sentence: “Living at DAMAC Lagoons feels like…”
A holiday home. The colour palette — blue, green, white — it instantly lifts your mood. You wake up to greenery, water, sunlight. It feels refreshing. It’s the kind of environment that boosts your energy and productivity every morning.
Would you say it’s ideal for families?
Definitely. DAMAC has a proven record of building family-oriented communities — look at DAMAC Hills 1 and 2. The events, the amenities, the community vibe — they know how to create a sense of belonging. I always tell people, come and see for yourself. Once they do, they’ll realize what a great investment it is.
How do you plan to decorate your home?
I’ll go with a country theme. If I move into Santorini, I’ll keep it simple and inspired by Greek style, maybe a touch of Boho. It should feel like waking up in Santorini every day!
Right now, I’m enjoying a peaceful retired life with my family — spending time with my kids, cooking, and just living a life I dreamed of after years of hard work. Hopefully, once one of my units is ready, I’ll move into DAMAC Lagoons full-time and enjoy the lagoon views, greenery, and community life.
What was your business before retirement?
I owned and operated a business in Saudi Arabia, importing and exporting electronics and gadgets.
