They moved into a bright and spacious home whose value doubled in just four years
“I had seen mock-ups but when we saw it in reality, it was much better than even the pictures”
What first drew you to DAMAC Lagoons when you were looking for a home? We moved into DAMAC Hills 1 in 2020 during the pandemic. It was a tough time, but when we stayed in a community, it felt different. Even though we were under lockdown, we enjoyed facilities and amenities inside the community, like horse riding and parks. We realized living inside a community is much more comfortable, especially for families. Accessibility is key. When they launched Lagoons. I was impressed with the idea of the Mediterranean style and all that they were advertising. It looked simply great.
What aspects of DAMAC Lagoons stood out to you compared to other communities? I think DAMAC, if you compare it with other communities, is always big on amenities. The number of amenities DAMAC provides is always wider. Also, I think the design of the house including the lighting and illumination, makes a big difference. If you look at DAMAC Hills 1, the homes have high ceilings and are spacious. In other communities, you don’t see that brightness and spaciousness. That’s one of the reasons I’ve always stuck to DAMAC, to be honest with you.
Have you had experience with other developers before choosing DAMAC? In the past also, I tried to buy from other developers, but I think there is something about DAMAC. I also bought a house in Just Cavalli in DAMAC Hills 2, pre-Covid. Eventually, it made me money because DAMAC is a developer you can rely on.
How would you describe the lifestyle and environment within DAMAC Lagoons communities? It feels like resort-style living, to be honest with you. It doesn’t feel like the desert, right? But the way DAMAC has developed the landscaping, feels natural and warm.
Has the location of DAMAC Lagoons supported your family’s lifestyle and daily needs? Oh yes. My kids go to GEMS Founders School, and my little one goes to a nursery that’s just next door. You also have a lot of options close by: the Saudi German Clinic, DAMAC Mall, and even a Radisson Blu Hotel. They have a couple of good restaurants there as well. I think DAMAC Lagoons will definitely go up the ladder. One of the key reasons is the location.
Have you noticed demand or appreciation for your property since purchase? Yes, I get two to three calls every week, asking if I’m interested in selling. I don’t know where the data gets out (laughs), because I haven’t advertised. So it means there is demand for this property. People want to buy it.
What kind of return on investment are you expecting? Definitely, I think we’ll get at least 50 to 60% return once it matures. Between April and November, it’s already appreciated. It was launched at AED 1.6 million and it’s already AED 3.2 million.
What was your reaction when you saw your home for the first time? I had seen just a mock-up in DAMAC Hills 1. When we saw it in reality, it was much better than the pictures. Especially if you look at our taps: they are Kohler, in a matte black finish. It feels upscale and good quality. Even the flush is integrated into the wall. That kind of attention to detail is pretty good.
How would you describe the lifestyle at DAMAC Lagoons in one phrase? Mediterranean lifestyle!! I want to see a helicopter view — how it looks from the top — but we’ll see once it’s completed.
What vibe did you give your home?? I think warm! It’s good. It feels like home.
What advice would you give to someone considering DAMAC? DAMAC also caters to people who don’t have a really high budget. You go a little bit far away, but it is still good. In the new houses, resident can enjoy a big wave pool. The houses look good. I would say DAMAC has improved things that could have been better.
